A little about Mr. Brilhante…

I have been teaching at Mexico Public Schools since the 2014-15 school year and have found that Mexico has some of the most professional staff and inspiring community members I have ever worked with. Since joining the outstanding teaching staff in Mexico, I have become involved in Bright Futures, the Presser Performing Arts Center (Bank Commissioner in the production of Mary Poppins and backstage at the production of Peter Pan) and I have even been in the high school musical production of “Anything Goes”.

I currently live in Columbia and commute every day but while in Columbia I am involved in a variety of activities.  I am a member of the Columbia chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Boonslick Chordbusters (professional four-part close a-Capella harmony singing), Bike to the Future (providing donated/refurbished bikes to community members in need of transportation), and I also enjoy spending time with family, friends and fishing!

Professionally, I graduated from Columbia College in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and graduated again from Columbia College in 2013 with a Masters in Teaching. Before coming to Mexico I taught for a year at Gentry Middle School in Columbia but “cut my teeth” at the Center of Responsive Education just down the block from Gentry.

I enjoy the position I am in mostly because I get to work closely with the future of our nation. I have always known that I wanted to make the biggest difference in our society in the most effective way and I continue to believe that this is most efficiently done through education.
